|| जिन-वचन ||


	नीहरन्ति मयं पुत्ता पियर परमदुक्खिया । पियरो वि तहा पुत्ते बन्धू रायं तवं चरे ॥
	Much bereaved sons remove the dead body of their father from the house. Similarly, the father removes the dead body of his son. The same is the case with relatives. Therefore, O king! practise penance.
	पुत्र अपने मृत पिता के शरीर को परम दु:ख के साथ घर से बाहर ले जाते हैं । इसी तरह पिता भी अपने मृत पुत्र को बाहर ले जाते है । बंधुओं का भी वैसा ही होता है । इस लिए हे राजन् ! तू तप कर ।


	एगब्भूए अरण्णे वा जहा उ चरई मिगे । एवं धम्मं चरिस्सामि संजमेण तवेण य ॥
	Just as a deer moves about in a forest all alone, in the same way I shall also move on the path of religion all alone, practising self-control and penance.
	जैसे जंगल में हरिण अकेला विचरता है, वैसे मैं भी संयम और तप समेत धर्म का आचरण करूँगा ।


	सव्वं जगं जइ तुहं सव्वं वावि धणं भवे । सव्वं पि ते अपज्जत्तं नेव ताणाय तं तव ॥
	If the whole world together with all its wealth is given to you, even then, you will not find that adequate. It will not be able to protect you.
	यदि पूरा जगत तुम्हें मिल जाए और जगत का सारा धन तुम्हारा हो जाए, तो भी तुम्हारे लिए वह अपर्याप्त होगा और तुम्हें वह रक्षण नहीं दे सकेगा ।


	माया पिया ण्हुसा भाया भज्जा पुत्ता य ओरसा । नालं ते मम ताणाय लुप्पंतस्स सकम्मुणा ।।
	Mother, father, daughters-in-law, brothers, wife and sons will not be able to give any protection when I am suffering for my own evil deeds.
	जब में अपने कर्मों से दु:खी होता हूं, तब माता, पिता, पुत्रवधू, भाई, भार्या और पुत्र – ये सभी मेरी रक्षा करने में समर्थ नहीं होते ।


	जस्सत्थि मच्चुणा सक्खं जस्स च स्थि पलायणं । जो जाणे न मरिस्सामि सो हु कंखे सुए सिया ॥
	He who has friendship with death, who is capable of escaping from death, or who knows that he will never die, can desire to see the next day.
	मृत्यु के साथ जिस की मैत्री हो, जो मृत्यु के मुख से पलायन कर सकता हो और जो जानता हो कि 'मैं कभी नहीं मरूंगा' वह आनेवाली कल की इच्छा कर सकता है।


	जहा सूई ससुत्ता पडिआ न विणस्सइ । तहा जीवे ससुत्ते संसारे न विणस्सइ ।
	Just as a threaded needle does not get lost even when it falls on the ground, similarly the soul with knowledge of scriptures is not lost in the world of birth and death.
	जिस प्रकार धागा पिरोई हुई सुई, गिरने पर भी गुम नहीं होती, उसी प्रकार श्रुतज्ञानी जीव संसार में रहने पर भी विनष्ट नहीं होता ।


	कोहे माणे माया लोभे पेज्जे तहेव दोसे य । हासे भय अक्खाइय उपघाए निस्सिया दसमा ।।
	The language used with the intention of anger, ego, deceit, greed, attachment, hatred, jest, fear, imagination and violence is regarded as untrue language.
	क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ, राग, द्वेष, हास्य, भय, कल्पना और हिंसा-का आश्रय लेकर बोली जानेवाली भाषा असत्य भाषा है ।


	पुरिसा ! सच्चमेव समभिजाणाहि । सच्चस्स आणाए से उवट्ठिए मेहावी मारं तरइ ॥
	O Man ! know what truth is. The wise man who always obeys the command of truth conquers death.
	हे पुरुष ! तू सत्य को अच्छी तरह जान ले ! जो सत्य की आज्ञा में उपस्थित है वह मेधावी मनुष्य मृत्यु के पार हो जाता है।


	रमए पंडिए सासं हयं भदं व वाहए । बालं सम्मइ सासन्तो गलियस्सं व वाहए ॥
	A horse-rider enjoys riding a noble horse. Similarly, the Guru enjoys instructing intelligent disciples. A horse-rider gets tired of riding a bad horse. Similarly, the Guru gets tired of instructing dull disciples.
	जैसे उत्तम घोडे को हाँकता हुआ सवार आनन्द पाता है, वैसे ही पंडित शिष्य पर अनुशासन करते हुए गुरु आनन्द पाते हैं । जैसे दुष्ट घोडे को हाँकता हुआ सवार खिन्न होता है, वैसे ही अविनीत शिष्य पर अनुशासन करते हए गरु खिन्न होते हैं ।


	संसयं खलु सो कुणई जो मग्गे कुणाई घरं । जत्थेव गन्तुमिच्छेज्जा तत्थ कुविज्ज सासयं ॥
	One who builds a house anywhere on the path is indulging in a doubtful activity. One should build a permanent house only at one's destination.
	जो रास्ते में कहीं भी अपना घर बनाता है तो वह संदेहयुक्त होता है । अपना घर तो वहीं बनाना चाहिए जहां पहुँच कर मुकाम करने की इच्छा हो ।
