|| जिन-वचन ||
जम्मं दुक्खं जरा दुक्खं रोगा य मरणाणि य ।
अहो ! दुक्खो हु संसारो जत्थ कीसंति जंतवो ॥
Birth is painful. Old age is painful. Disease and death are also painful. Oh! the whole world is full of unhappiness, where all living beings suffer afflictions.
जन्म दुःख है; बुढ़ापा दुःख है; रोग और मृत्यु भी दुःख है । अहो ! सारा संसार दु:खमय है, जहां जीव दुःख से पीडित हो रहे हैं ।
जहा कुम्मे सअंगाई सए देहे समाहरे ।
एवं पावाइं मेहावी अज्झप्पेण समाहरे ।।
Just as a tortoise withdraws all its limbs within its own body, in the same way a wise man protects himself from sins through spirituality.
जिस प्रकार कछुआ अपने अंगों को अपने शरीर में समेट लेता है, उसी प्रकार मेधावी पुरुष आध्यात्मिक भावना द्वारा पापों को समेट लेता है ।
वित्तं पसवो य नाइओ तं बाले सरणं ति मनइ ।
एते मम तेसु वि अहं नो ताणं सरणं न विज्जइ ।।
An ignorant person believes that wealth, animals and relatives are his protectors. He says, They belong to me and I belong to them.' But they are neither his protectors nor shelter.
अज्ञानी मनुष्य मानता है कि धनसंपत्ति, पशु, ज्ञातिबंधु ये सब उसे रक्षण देने वाले हैं, क्योंकि ये सब मेरे हैं, और मैं उनका हूँ ' । किन्तु ये सब रक्षक नहीं है और शरणरूप भी नहीं हैं।
सयं सयं पसंसंता गरहंता परं वयं ।
जे उ तत्थ विउस्संति संसारं ते विउस्सिया ॥
Those who praise their own views and condemn the words of others, only to show off thier so-called learnedness, are indeed wandering in the worldly cycle of birth and death.
जो अपने मत की प्रशंसा करते हैं और दूसरों के वचनों की निन्दा करते हैं, और इस तरह अपने पांडित्य का दिखावा करते हैं वे संसार में भ्रमण करते रहते हैं ।
सयं तिवायए पाणे अदुव न्नेहिं घायए ।
हणंतं वा णुजाणाइ वेरं वड्ढइ अप्पणो ॥
A Person who kills any living being either himself or gets it killed by someone else or supports someone who is killing, eventually increases his own enmity.
जो मनुष्य स्वयं प्राणियों का घात करता है या औरों से घात करवाता है या घात करने वाले की प्रशंसा करता है वह अपना वैर बढ़ाता है ।
साहरे हत्थपाए य मणं सव्विंदियाणि य ।
पावगंच परिणामं भासादोसं च तारिसं ॥
Ascetics should have control over their hands and feet, mind and all the five senses. They should avoid faulty language and such activities which may result in sin.
साधु अपने हाथ, पाँव, मन और सर्व इन्द्रियों को नियन्त्रण में रखे । वह पापपूर्ण परिणाम को प्राप्त होनेवाले कार्य और भाषा के दोषों को भी छोड़े ।
संबुज्झमाणे उ णरे मइमं पावाउ अप्पाण निवट्टएज्जा ।
हिंसप्पसूयाइं दुहाई मत्ता वेराणुबंधिणी महब्भयाणि ।।
Violence gives birth to miseries. It creates enmity and is very dangerous. Knowing this, a wise man should refrain from sinful activities.
हिंसा से दुःख उत्पन्न होते हैं । उस से वैर का बंधन होता है जो महाभंयकर होता है । यह जानकर बुद्धिमान मनुष्य पापकर्म से दूर रहे ।
सव्वाहि अणुजुत्तीहि मतिमं पडिलेहिया ।
सव्वे अक्कंतदुक्खा य अतो सव्वे न हिंसया ॥
A wise man, considering all points of views and knowing that nobody likes unhappiness, consequently should stop killing any living being.
सर्व प्रकार की युक्तियों से ज्ञान प्राप्त कर और ‘सर्व प्राणियों को दुःख अप्रिय है ' यह जानकर बुद्धिमान मनुष्य किसी भी प्राणी की हिंसा न करे ।
पभू दोसे निराकिच्चाण विरुज्झेज्ज केण वि ।
मणसा वयसा चेव कायसा चेव अंतसो ॥
Those who have conquered their senses and are free from defects, will never take their revenge on anyone, mentally, verbally or physically till the end of life.
इन्द्रियों को जीतनेवाला मनुष्य सर्व दोषों का त्याग कर, किसी भी प्राणी के साथ, जीवन–पर्यन्त, मन, वचन, और काया से वैर-विरोध न करे ।
ण कम्मुणा कम्म खति बाला अकम्मुणा कम्म खवेन्ति धीरा ।
मेधाविणो लोभभयावतीता संतोसिणो णो पकरेन्ति पावं ॥
Ignorant beings cannot destroy their Karmas by actions. The wise men destroy their Karmas even without doing anything. The wise are above greed and fear. They are contented and therfore do not commit any sin.
अज्ञानी जीव कर्मों का क्षय नहीं कर सकते । धीर पुरुष अकर्म से कर्मों का क्षय करते हैं । प्रज्ञावान मनुष्य लोभ और भय से दूर रहते हैं । वे संतोषी होते हैं इस लिए पाप कर्म नहीं करते ।
